Our History
Welcome! I'm David Pickut, founder of Pickut Technologies, Inc. (PTI). I'm an electrical engineer and an educator.
Over many years, PTI has provided engineering and technology services to a wide variety of industries. During my time as a consultant and as an employee of numerous tech companies, I picked up a skill set that has helped me advance my latest initiative in the educational technology ("EdTech") space.
In retirement, I started doing volunteer tutoring and teaching for adults working on getting their GED. I learned a lot working with those students, and I was able to help dozens of people get "over the hump" on math and basic algebra. I gained an appreciation for the value of ongoing education and for the obstacles that adult learners have to overcome.
In many cases, I found that individuals just needed some reinforcement of fundamental math skills.
I developed MathOtter to help GED students (and other adult students) who are struggling with basic math and algebra. I hope students will find it useful in pursuit of their educational goals.
My Favorite Accomplishment
I spent more than a thousand hours as a volunteer helping GED students. I really appreciated this recognition and it, along with the people I helped, inspired me to try to do more.
